Nestled in Leesylvania State Park, this hidden beach near Washington DC will take you a million miles away from it all.
Right on the tidal shores of the Potomac River, a quiet beach is surrounded by hiking, picnicking, fishing and boating activities.
The park is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, Leesylvania is believed to be the site of an Algonquian village and rumor has it Captain John Smith visited the area in 1608.
The park has even more history as it was the home of the famous Lee family, including Revolutionary War hero Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee who was the grandfather of Civil War general Robert E. Lee.
