DC is a city that knows how to do green spaces very well. We have so many gorgeous parks and gardens all over the area that you must visit. But we found one particular gorgeous park not far outside of DC in Wheaton Maryland that took our breath away. Brookside Gardens is the best fairy tale park near Washington DC.
Brookside Gardens is a stunning 50-acre property that features beautiful gardens, walking trails, winding brooks and gazebos.
Brookside was founded in 1969 and they feature several different gardens including the Azalea Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden and Butterfly Garden.
Brookside was named for the rambling brooks and streams that surround the property.
It’s a picture perfect place to stroll along the pathways through the flowers, admiring the many different types of plants they have on display.
There are also several gazebos and chairs throughout the park that are ideal for relaxing.
For winter months, there are also two conservatories located on the property that feature tropical plant collections and seasonal plants.
Because they house so many different types of flowers, Brookside is a beautiful place to visit, no matter what time of year it is. In the spring, gorgeous tulips of almost every color bloom.
And in the fall, the leaves turn golden orange, creating spectacular tunnels of color for you to wander through.
In the winter, the garden is lit up with thousands of sparkling lights to become the Garden of Lights.
And you won’t want to miss the butterfly gardens where brightly color butterflies fly all around and might even land on you!
Brookside truly is a magical place and as you walk through its bright colors and gorgeous flowers, you will feel like you’re walking through a storybook.
Brookside Gardens is located at 1800 Glenallen Avenue in Wheaton Maryland.
The gardens are free to visit and are open from sunrise to sunset and the conservatories are open from 10am to 5pm.
