One of the best things about DC is that it’s a city that is constantly changing. Even though it’s steeped in so much history, DC evolves all the time. What was once a terrible area can become the trendiest destination. When Money Magazine came out with their list of the coolest neighborhoods in America , we were not too surprised by which DC neighbor nabbed a spot.
The Capitol Riverfront was ranked as No. 6 on Time's list. The area has expanded enormously over the last few years. In fact, it used to be quite a dangerous area in DC.
It is now a popular destination for both tourists and residents. Capitol Riverfront is a mix of commercial and residential buildings with plenty of activities, restaurants, and entertainment.
The neighborhood really emerged when Nationals Park was built there. But it has evolved to be more than just a baseball destination.
There are beautiful apartments offering great views and walkable living.
There are office spaces, cafes, restaurants, and shops all within an easy walking distance to the Navy Yard Metro.
And Yards Park has become its own fantastic recreational destination in the neighborhood.
You can almost always find a movie, concert, performance or fun event to enjoy!
In the winter, you can ice skate at Canal Park.
In the summer, you can kayak or canoe along the Anacostia River.
And all throughout the year, you can find fitness classes and events.
Of course, if you love food, then Capitol Riverfront has you covered. Here you will find some of the best restaurants, bars, and cafes in the entire city!
It's not surprising that it made the coolest neighborhood list. Now we just need to figure out why they didn't include more DC neighborhoods on the list!
Have you ventured to Capitol Riverfront yet? What neighborhood do you love? Here are some of ours!
