You can get around DC pretty easily. We have walkable streets and buses and a Metro. Last year, DC brought back another form of transportation that played a big part in DC’s history. Take this charming DC streetcar for a unique ride around the city!

DC's first streetcar opened in 1862. It was one of the most popular modes of transportation in the district for the next 100 years.

But the streetcar line ended in 1962 and the city was left with buses and later, the Metro. Until 2016, when DC brought back the streetcar.

DC's streetcar transports riders from Union Station through the H Street Corridor, which is one of the few areas of DC without a Metro station.

The streetcar line is 2.2 miles long and there's eight stops on the route.

The goal of the streetcar is to create neighborhood connections where they don't yet exist. It's free to ride, making it a great way to reach the bustling H Street area and beat the traffic while you do it!

While so far, this is the only streetcar line, the DC government plans to open more streetcars to the city.

You can catch the streetcar any day of the week. It runs from 6am to midnight during the week with late night service until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. They run every 10-15 minutes. It's a unique way to explore part of DC!
