The entire DC area is simply gorgeous in the fall. The weather is beautiful and the fall foliage is breathtaking. This is probably why most Washingtonians try to get out and experience as much time outdoors as they can in the fall. You have many hikes to choose from in the DC area but we found gorgeous hikeable lake that is perfect for a fall hike.
Burke Lake Park is in Fairfax Virginia and is about 30 minutes outside of the district.
The trail is for all skill levels and is easy to navigate. The trail also connects to the Lake Mercer Loop Trail and Ox Road Sidepath trail so you can create a longer trail if you prefer long hikes.
Burke Lake Park is located at 7315 Ox Road in Fairfax Station, VA. It’s open year round from sunrise to sunset. The park is free on weekdays but it’s $10/car for non-Fairfax County residents.
