We are going to come out and say it: we think Washington DC is a fantastic place to live. It’s vibrant, fun, diverse and exciting. Yes, we know it’s not perfect but there are some things that the district has that no one else can claim. Here are 11 things all Washingtonians can brag about.

Can’t find anything to do because you’re on a budget? That’s not a problem in DC. The Smithsonian has 19 incredible museums and the zoo, all for free, every day of the year except December 25th.

Go-go is a mix of funk, hip hop, R&B and bus. It’s energetic, fun and lively and it all started right here in DC.

It might not be free but there is still a spy museum here. A museum completely dedicated to the secret world of spies and it’s one of the few in the world.

There is no excuse not to work out in DC. From free fitness classes, plenty of parks to jog and bike in, kayaking and hiking trails, it’s not hard to stay active. That’s probably why we’re consistently named one of the healthiest cities in the world.

Our spring just might be prettier than yours. There is nothing quite as beautiful as DC when the cherry blossoms bloom.

The free stuff just does not end here. You can catch free movies at Screen on the Green in the Summer. There’s Jazz in the Sculpture Garden, military band performances throughout the week and frequent free festivals all year round.

You might not be a fan of every president but almost every president has called DC home. The only exception is George Washington. The White House wasn’t built until after he left office.

Again, you may have mixed feelings about the government but let’s face it, it is pretty darn cool that laws are made in our backyard.
