DC Has Its Very Own German Christmas Market And You’ll Want To Visit

Are you one of those people who still loves the thrill of shopping for presents in an actual store instead of online? Then you are definitely going to want to stop by this unique market in DC. In fact, even if your shopping was all done through Amazon this year, you should head there. You can experience a fun and diverse holiday event, shop, eat and see amazing decorations at the best German holiday market in DC.
The Heurich House Museum hosts Christkindlmarkt, a German inspired holiday market every year.
The market features goods from 40 local artisans and you can find everything from jewelers to chocolatiers.
This year, the market is extending past its typical weekend hours and will have "mini markets" for three Fridays in December.
It's the perfect place to get your Christmas shopping done, find new local artists and experience a taste of Germany in DC.
In addition to shopping, there's plenty of food and drink vendors at the market. They serve the traditional Gluhwein, which is a warm mulled wine.
And they serve traditional German eats like freshly grilled sausages and bratwursts.
They also have many local food and beverage vendors in case you want something other than German-themed food and drink.
Shoppers are also inited to tour the historic Heurich House before or after they visit the market.
The House, which was built in 1894, was once home to the Heurich family, who were the first brewers in DC. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas this time of year.
