We put together a 20 mile road trip around DC that collects some of its biggest and best attractions, neighborhoods and restaurants. Whether you are a local on a staycation or are just driving through, this is the best 20-mile road trip through DC.
Tryst Coffee in Adams Morgan is one of the best coffee shops in DC. It's an institution in the neighborhood. In addition to coffee, they have a large selection of breakfast items.
Rock Creek Park is a true gem of DC. The sprawling park is the best place to escape the city without really escaping. There's a variety of trails so if you are not really a hiker, you can take a more casual stroll.

Next we hit one of the most gorgeous churches in the country.
The National Cathedral does not make the top of everyone's DC lists but it's should! This incredible Gothic church is one of the most impressive architectural structures in DC.
We head down to Georgetown after our stop at The National Cathedral. This is the oldest neighborhood in DC. It's known for its great shopping and dining. There's also gorgeous row houses and mansions along the side streets. Grab a bite to eat on M Street or down at Washington Harbor.
We couldn't really leave downtown DC off our itinerary. Take some photos outside the White House and take a stroll around Lafayette Park to enjoy some history and culture.
Walk a few blocks past the White House and you'll be at The National Mall. From here, you can tour the Capitol, explore the Smithsonian museums or visit the monuments and memorials.
At this point, you'll be close the Memorial Bridge and it's quick drive into Arlington. While this is technically outside of DC, everyone should stop at the Arlington Memorial Cemetery. It's moving, inspiring and will fill you with gratitude.
Since you've been exploring and walking, you might want to relax a little. DC's newest destination, Yards Park, is the perfect place for this. Lay out on the grass, grab a snack at one of the many local restaurants or just soak up waterfront views.
The Spy Museum is one of the few museums in DC that costs money. But it's worth the price of admission. This interactive museum gives you an inside look at the secret life of spies. You will also be able to experience DC's unique Chinatown neighborhood.
The U Street Corridor is a perfect place to end your day. Whether you want a great meal or to experience the nightlife, U Street is an ideal destination. This street offers plenty of restaurants, bars and lounges all in within walking distance of one another!
