Washingtonians love a good beach getaway. After all, we have so many to choose from! Most people think of beaches like Rehoboth, Ocean City or Virginia Beach when they think of beaches around DC. But there’s one tiny beach town that is only one hour out of DC that you must visit!
The Town of Chesapeake Beach is a town in Calvert County Maryland. It was originally created as a resort community at the end of the Chesapeake Beach Railway.
It has since grown into a quaint beach town that is perfect for a summer trip.
The beach is, of course, great at Chesapeake Beach! One of the best beaches is Bayfront Park, also known as Brownies Beach.
It’s a quiet and peaceful beach with a large boardwalk and beautiful views of Chesapeake Bay.
If you prefer something little wilder, you can spend the day splashing and sliding at the Chesapeake Beach Water Park.
If you love history, then you will love the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum. This cool museum gives you a look at the train that once connected DC to the Chesapeake Bay.
Even though Chesapeake Beach is only an hour away from DC, you may want to spend the night and explore what the area has to offer.
