What are some fun roadside attractions in Connecticut?
Connecticut might be a small state, but it’s not without its list of quirky, interesting, or otherwise fun roadside attractions. In fact, would you believe that there’s so many we can’t list them all in this single paragraph? It’s true! There are tons – you might need a whole year to do them all. For example, did you know that the oldest amusement park in the United States is hiding in Bristol? And while you’re in Bristol, you’ll also want to check out the Witch’s Dungeon Classic Movie Museum, and the New England Carousel Museum, too. In Danbury, you can find the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant (as seen on TV!), and in Goshen, you can find a strange but oddly interesting taxidermy exhibit. The list truly does go on, and you can find fun roadside attractions in Hartford, Waterbury, Uncasville, Stratford... we can truly just keep going, but we think you get the idea.
What are some unique things to see in Connecticut?
Connecticut has its fair share of offbeat roadside attractions, but it’s also got some unique and totally splendid stuff, too. Seriously, don’t ever let the tiny size of this beautiful state fool you; it is absolutely jam-packed with things to do, see, and experience, many of which you won’t find anywhere else. In Middletown, you can check out a truly mesmerizing waterfall that goes strong even in the winter. It’s called Wadsworth Falls, and it’s enchanting. Everyone must see it at least once – and don’t forget a camera, because it’s going to bring out your inner landscape photographer. In Barkhamsted, you can find a dam that literally looks like something out of an old fairy tale; it’s a stone, castle-like work of art. It’s only 75 years old – but it looks much older! We’re also home to the last wooden whaling ship remaining in the world – it was built in 1841.
