When summer hits, waterparks make for a great escape from the heat. You can catch a tan without working up a sweat as you splash around in the pool and experience the rush of waterslides. If you love roller coasters, it’s the same thing but with the added benefit of water. But Connecticut doesn’t have a lot of waterparks, and with the recent close of CoCo Key, people have been left asking where else they can go for summer fun. Well check out the list to see where you can go for some water thrills!
1. Brownstone Exploration and Discovery Park (Portland)
This place is a center for high flying adventure, diving, and making a big splash. Folks love the floating inflatables and wide open area provided by the large lake.
Equipped with rock climbing and zip lining, you can choose just how adventurous this trip is for yourself. Even if you just want to canoe or swim, this place will satisfy the whole family.
It's hard to keep the little ones entertained with just one activity, but at Wolcott you don't have to worry about that. Equipped with a park, pond, and field you can plan a whole day of activities in a single spot.
But the best part is the splash pad, giving even the youngest kids the ability to splash around safely. Kids will be rained down on by a giant daisy and a couple of snakes as they run around on soft ground.
But the smallest kids get the awesome Saturation Station, full of inventive sprinkler systems and buckets of fun. By fun I mean there are literally buckets of water being dumped on them.
From head first sliding to group tubes and lazy floating, you can go solo or bring a group! This amusement park offers fantastic rides both wet and dry for your amusement.
Kids can splash around and play in the stomach of a whale while parents lounge in nearby chairs. The straw umbrellas and tiki decor will make you feel like you're in paradise.
With nearly a half-mile of boardwalk, this is easily an all day trip. You'll find delicious snacks and sweet treats and a mini golf course. Not to mention the fact that you're at a beach, The possibilities are endless!
See Ocean Beach Park for yourself, and enjoy the sweet Beach Boys-esque music in the background. After seeing this clip you will definitely want to take a visit!
With these all in one options it’s no wonder Connecticut didn’t see the need to have a lot of parks. You only need to pick one to have access to everything that makes summer vacation fun! If you’ve been to one of these parks before, tell us about it!
