Connecticut is the birthplace of the hamburger and with being the first, we also want to be the best. So undoubtedly there are some superb restaurants where you can grab a burger that is absolutely finger-licking good. But down in the town of Westbrook, there is a burger joint that serves some truly epic burgers and you have to check it out.
Haywire Burger Bar is creating quite a buzz with its 100% black angus beef burgers that are packed with flavor and cooked to juicy perfection.
The beef is ground daily at the restaurant and then turned into some truly epic burgers. They use local produce as much as possible and these ingredients come together in the most delightful way.
The Haywire Burger Bar has many signature burgers to choose from. The Sunny Side (pictured below) is an 8 oz. burger topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried egg, onion straws and house made garlic mayo.
There are burgers on the menu with names like Fungi, Mac Daddy and Fuggedaboutit. The house specialty, the Haywire Burger, is topped with bacon, cheddar, caramelized onion and chipotle sauce - yum!
If you are craving a burger with a kick then try the Don't Mess With Texas (pictured below). It comes topped with chili, cheddar cheese, onion, pickled jalapenos and is served on Texas toast.
The burgers aren't the only draw to this restaurant. Try some of the mouth-watering appetizers like Irish egg rolls, spinach artichoke dip or fried pickles.
Occasionally Haywire Burger Bar offers specials that feature seasonal ingredients like the Cheddar Apple Burger (pictured below). It is topped with apple compote, cheddar crisp, honey drizzled organic arugula greens, fresh rosemary herb mayo on a garlic grilled brioche roll.
You should grab up these seasonal specials while you can because they are truly epic burgers!
Haywire Burger does offer something other than the traditional beef burger. You can find a choice of sandwiches featuring chicken, salmon, pulled pork or corned beef.
The Nashville Hot Chicken (pictured above) has a buttermilk breaded crispy chicken breast topped with house made hot sauce, pickles, diced pickled peppers and ranch on Texas toast.
The Haywire Burger Bar has a fully stocked bar and 28 taps of craft beer that rotate.
What could be better? Burgers and beer are a great combination and this restaurant does it amazingly well.
The Haywire Burger Bar can be found at 730 Boston Post Rd.,
