There are a multitude of family-friendly places in Connecticut. From festivals and events to playgrounds and museums, we’ve got so much for kids here. One experience that’s great for the whole family is a visit to the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor. This spot is educational and fun. You can learn about trolley history in Connecticut, see authentic rail cars, and even take a ride on an old trolley car!
Did you know this is the oldest electric railroad museum in the country? The Connecticut Trolley Museum has been delighting Nutmeggers since 1940.
The museum has 1.5 miles of track that they use for public rides throughout the year. Rides are given on one of several restored trolleys that originally operated all over the United States and Canada.
Back at the Visitors Center, you can see even more trolleys from all over the country. Some of these streetcars even operated locally back when Connecticut had an extensive trolley system.
Easter brings the Easter Eggspress ride, complete with a visit from Motorwoman Cotton Tail. The fall Pumpkin Patch Trolley Ride is a blast for the whole family. Adults and older kids looking to get in a Halloween mood will love the spookier Rails to the Darkside event. And Christmas means the magical Winterfest and Tunnel of Lights ride.
No matter what time of year you visit, you're sure to have a blast visiting this place.
