An entire abandoned town in Connecticut has been on the market for almost two decades, but no one seems to want to buy it.

This eerie community has been deserted for over 30 years. It’s filled with historic buildings that are centuries old, but something about the town has kept buyers from snapping up the incredibly cheap property.

This eerie ghost town in Connecticut is called Johnsonville.

The historic town was established in 1802.

The community is spread over 62 acres near the Connecticut River.

Johnsonville was once a busy mill community. It was a leading producer of twine.

Though no one knows how many people once lived here, the number of buildings suggests a thriving town.

In 1972, lightning struck the mill and the complex burned to the ground.

After the fire, the town’s economy essentially fell apart.

A millionaire named Raymond Schmitt purchased the entire town and tried to turn it into something of a time capsule.

In fact, many of the quaint buildings in town were actually transported from other villages in New England and reassembled in Johnsonville.

The town is home to an old general store, school, church, toy store and a former post office.

Schmitt almost never let outsiders enter Johnsonville, though he occasionally rented some areas out for weddings.

The town was originally listed for sale at the price of $4.7 million.

However, the current asking price is much less than that.

You can now scoop up this unique real estate for only $1.9 million.

That includes all 62 acres of land and the countless historic buildings.

A group of spirit mediums have expressed an interest in buying the town, but no sale has yet gone through.
