Lost Acres Orchard can be found in the northern part of Connecticut in the town of Granby. The orchard has been run by husband and wife team, Tom and Ginny since the mid 1970's, and it has quite a reputation for its Thanksgiving pies.
Ginny has been the primary pie maker for over 40 years and with that experience comes the down home goodness of farm baked pies. You can visit the farm store and pick up a few pies for your celebration but make sure you browse her delicious selection of homemade breads too.

Bishop's Orchards has stood the test of time in Connecticut. The farm was started in 1871 by Walter Goodrich Bishop and the first commercial orchard was added in 1909. Family owned and operated for over 140 years, obviously the folks at Bishop's Orchards are doing something right.

A tried and true tradition, Bishop's pies are in high demand during the holidays. They can be purchased either fresh or frozen, but it is strongly suggested that you order these scrumptious pies in advance so that you will be sure to have one.

Dondero Orchards has been around for more than 100 years. It was created by Joseph and Mary Ann Dondero who came to America from Italy. The orchards have been passed down through the family and has expanded dramatically since it was first established. The pies are delicious and one has even won awards.
In 2012, the Donedero strawberry rhubarb pie took second place in the CT Specialty Food Association’s competition, so you know it has to be fabulous. Other choices for pies include the chocolate cream and their many berry choices.

Woodstock Orchards is a diverse operation that has quite a bit to offer. From fresh vegetables and fruits to some of the finest pies, this orchard is worth the trip.
The apple pie is the customer favorite at Woodstock Orchards.
It is filled with the yummy goodness that comes from fresh apples. Another favorite from the bakery is the apple cider donuts and you will not want to pass up the opportunity to sample one while you are picking out your Thanksgiving pies.

So many delectable pies to choose from at this local orchard. In addition to the traditional dessert pies, Blue Jay Orchards also has a selection of potato and spinach pies. But for Thanksgiving, pumpkin or apple is probably a more traditional choice.

Located in Gales Ferry, Holmberg Orchards has been around since its purchase in 1896 by Adolph and Hulda who had just arrived from Sweden. Now in its fourth generation, the flavors that come out of this farm are rich in tradition.

Lyman Orchards was started in 1741 by a colonial farmer, John Lyman and his wife Hope. It began as a 37 acre farm and in 275 years has grown tremendously. Staying true to their heritage, the 8th and 9th generations of the family are still in the business of farming.
Lyman Orchards is probably best known for their apple pie. After all, the recipe has been around for 275 years or more. It is truly delicious and worthy of being on any holiday dessert table.
