From casual eateries to fancy five-star restaurants, there’s no shortage of great restaurants in Connecticut. If you’re looking for a truly special meal, you’ll want to visit the little town of Kent, where you’ll find the most beautiful historic farmhouse restaurant.
The charming little town of Kent is home to fewer than 3,000 residents, and it's a pretty, rural place.
The farmhouse was originally built back in 1781 by Asaph Swift. When it was built it was around 1,000 square feet; over the years more space was added. In 2016, the building was completely restored, keeping the original wood beam frame.
In addition to the beautiful atmosphere, the service here is absolutely stellar. They'll set you up with a one of the rotating craft beers on tap, or make you a classic cocktail.
Whether you're dining for lunch or dinner, the Swyft Burger always gets high marks. Graced with melted fontina cheese, agrodolce, and basil aioli, and served alongside classic French fries, this burger can't be beat.
The pizzas are baked in this Pavesi oven that was shipped here from Naples. The mozzarella cheese is handmade right here in the restaurant, and the fresh toppings come from the nearby Rock Cobble Farm. The sourdough crust is made from a 30-year-old starter. See, even the food here has a rich history!
The result? The best pizza you've ever had! The crust is perfectly crisp, with that wood-fired flavor that complements whichever toppings you've chosen.
You can't go wrong with any of the other menu items that include seafood, steak, chicken, and pasta. The pasta is handmade right here in the farmhouse kitchen.
