We’ve got lots of great Indian restaurants in Connecticut, and there are plenty of amazing dishes to enjoy at your local one. From naan to curry, tandoori chicken to chicken tikka masala, there’s no end to the delicious menu items you’ll encounter. One dish not typically associated with Indian food is pizza. Pizza is, of course, of Italian origin, and while you may find regional takes on it, Indian varieties are not exactly common. One place that’s managed to make a delicious Indian pizza in Connecticut is Darbar India in Branford. This spot serves up incredible Indian food that’s some of the best in the state, but it’s also got an amazing Indian pizza that’s unlike any pizza you’ve had before.
Darbar India moved recently, so if you haven't visited in a while, you may be surprised to see all the changes. There's no longer a banquet hall and the building is slightly smaller than the old location on Main Street, which opened in 1994.
Inside, you'll find a decorative fountain and fish pond, and a varied menu that has something for everyone. There's an outdoor patio area and a cocktail bar with plenty of unique drinks.
There are plenty of dishes on the menu to satisfy both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The 1,000-degree tandoor oven cooks up deliciously smoked food that has a distinctive flavor thanks to the quick cook times.
The dish is already quite popular, and comes in several varieties, including chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. You can even get gluten-free pizzas here.
