Are you tired of meandering through the grocery store listening to elevator music? Then Stew Leonard’s might be the perfect way to break from routine and have a little fun while you shop. This is the only grocery store in the state that’s just as much about family fun as it is about its extensive collection of fresh produce. See for yourself:
As the sign will tell you, Stew Leonard's is the World's Largest Dairy Store. And they have the Ripley's Believe It or Not! seal to prove it.
Founded in Norwalk in 1969, they're known for their selection of local fruits and vegetables. In fact, they take a lot of pride in their farm fresh and organic options.
They also take pride in just how big their selection of literally everything is! You'll always have tons of options, and since the store is arranged around a predetermined path, you'll never miss anything.
That's right! Say goodbye to boring old aisles and hello to the Farm Fresh Five. They're an animatronic band of milk cartons with a pretty catchy tune.
If you're looking for a quick trip, there are shortcuts off that predetermined path, but you'll probably have to ask a local to find them. And besides, you don't want to miss out on free samples and employees in cute costumes.
From the buffet to rainbow bagels, there are a ton of daily made items for sale. Including five hundred pounds of mozzarella...every day! They also have pretty good soft serve ice cream.
In the summer months, kids can take advantage of the outside playground, complete with petting zoo. You're covered in every season, with pumpkin goodies in the fall, trees in the winter, and an incredible nursery in the spring.
Stew Leonard’s is located at 100 Westport Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851. There are also locations in Danbury and Newington, as well as New York. But nothing beats the original! Another incredible shopping experience in Connecticut is Wild Bill’s Nostalgia, the perfect stop for folks looking for unique finds or a peek at the world’s largest jack-in-the-box. Check it out!
