I think a staycation could be the answer to all your problems. If you’re tired of all the hustle and bustle of the city ,or just bored of being at home, consider taking a weekend off and driving over to Litchfield. This small town along the historic green maintains its 18th century look and is a great spot for hiking and biking. But this staycation is less about outdoor activity and more about good old fashioned relaxation.
After a relaxing morning and breakfast, hop in the car and make your way over. When you arrive in town, you'll immediately recognize the quaint New England set up and instantly start to feel more relaxed.
Go ahead and check in to the Litchfield Inn so you can drop your things off and start exploring. The newly renovated spaces don't kill the budget, and will make you feel like 18th century aristocrats.
The inside mixes modern with historical, and the rooms are spacious. Plus breakfast comes included in the price so you'll have a nice and easy morning while you're here!
Your exploration will take on new life when you schedule your 3 hour hot air balloon tour. Schedule ahead of time to make sure there's availability and say yes to the champagne!
This direction free exploration will allow you to wander the skies and witness incredible aerial views. The slight breeze, the sun's warmth and the friendly smiles will make you swoon.
This restaurant is a lot of pricier, but the tastes are well worth it. Pair these flavor packed plates with a bottle of wine and have the best night you've had in a while.
Return to your room at the Litchfield Inn and curl up in bed for a nice night of sleep. Maybe watch a little TV or read a book. This is your weekend after all!
Spend the afternoon at Haight-Brown Vineyard exploring over twenty acres of lush land and tasting the wine. If you want to learn about the process, take a tour.
Return to town so you can explore Main Street and get up close and personal with Litchfield. Fee free to window shop or snag a spot in the grass to people watch. Then head back to the inn to freshen up before dinner and take a nap if needed.
Enjoy the unique menu, marked by the horse, and take advantage of the outdoor seating and quiet atmosphere. Moderate prices, but above average eats!
Now that you’ve done it all, you can head back to the inn for one more night and a nice breakfast before you hit the road, or start heading home right away. But I doubt you’ll be in a hurry to leave!
But if you’re not completely sold, this video of the Litchfield community video will show you everything you need to be convinced!
If you’ve had a chance to visit this beautiful town, tell us about it!
