In the winter in Connecticut, every few years our pretty state is blessed with these visitors from the far North during the cold months of the year. The ghostly white snowy owls with their yellow eyes have been spotted in the air and on the ground in the Nutmeg State. You will be amazed by the gorgeous wildlife in Connecticut once you go looking for it. Keep your eyes open, you never know where or when you might spot one of these hauntingly beautiful creatures. They have impressive camouflage, so look carefully so you won’t miss seeing them in wild.

Most of the owl sightings have been along the Connecticut coast. Snowy owls have been seen at Hammonasett Beach, Stratford Point, Stonington Point, Short Beach, and Long Beach to name a few spots.

The owls have also been seen inland in cities such as Bristol and Hartford. These sightings are less frequent and always a delightful surprise for city residents, who definitely don't get to see gorgeous animals like this every day.

If you take a walk along the shoreline during the next few weeks, keep your eyes wide open for a glimpse of these unusual and beautiful birds. And if you live inland, you never know when you might cross paths with a snowy visitor from the North.

Just remember, if you do spot one of these treasured owls, don't disturb them by getting too close, and don't try to feed them. They are still wild animals, after all.
