She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). Ever been traveling and the urge to grab a bite to eat suddenly strikes? We’ve all been there – after all, it’s the reason fast food places exist! But being in a hurry for something quick and easy to eat doesn’t mean you have to stop at a chain restaurant. We have plenty of great roadside restaurants in Connecticut that can get you in and out in a hurry: you can enjoy great food while supporting a local business. One of our favorites is Denmo’s in Southbury. This no-frills spot has an array of quick foods, like huge hot dogs, hamburgers, lobster rolls, and more. Check it out:
Denmo's Famous Snack and Dairy opened up way back in 1978 under the name Cedar Hollow Snack and Dairy. This little roadside stand was originally known mostly for split hot dogs, but the menu has expanded greatly over the years.
This is a simple spot without a lot of frills. There's a walk-up counter where you place your order, grab your food, and then either head back home or to the many patio tables.
These perfectly-charred, foot-long hot dogs are some of the best in the Nutmeg State. The delicious buns are the perfect complement to the meat and toppings.
Of course, we are in New England, so you may be tempted to try seafood. There's plenty to enjoy here, whether you're looking for a classic lobster roll, crab sandwich, or clams.
