We are lucky enough to have some great old general stores in Connecticut. One of our favorites is the Round Hill Store, which has been serving up assorted goods and sundries for hundreds of years in the Nutmeg State. This place has so much history and has managed to adapt with the times to stay in business even after all this time. A visit here will make you feel like you stepped back in time!
The Round Hill Store was built in Greenwich in 1801 - just two years after the death of George Washington. This delightful store is a wonderful combination of modern-day convenience and old-time charm.
Amazingly enough, the store has only been owned by three different families during its lifetime. It's been in the current owner's family for three generations.
With the store's small size, it's obviously not going to be able to stock all the items that a big-box store or supermarket would have. However, there's a great variety of commonly-used items and foods here!
There's a small selection of old-timey items that reflect the store's rich heritage. Looking through the cabinets here feels like walking through a museum.
