The Stanton House was named in 1937 when then owner Nora Stanton Barney named the house in honor of her grandmother and feminist reformer, Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

From the 1960s until it was bought by its current owners, the house was a boarding house. In 1985, the home was revived and transformed into an Inn.
