Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). Looking for the perfect winter town in Connecticut? We have quite a few that are pretty spectacular, but one of our favorites is Middletown. Despite its population of around 50,000 residents, it feels like much more of a small town, with plenty of parks and locally-owned restaurants and shops to check out. We love a visit here at any time of year, but it’s an especially magical place in the cold months. You’ll find plenty of fun things to do in Middletown, CT in the winter, and the surrounding area is great to check out, too. Here are a few of our favorite winter activities:
Technically, this spot's in nearby Middlefield (about five miles away from Middletown proper), but we had to include Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort in our list. It's one of the most popular winter attractions in Connecticut.
Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort, 99 Powder Hill Rd, Middlefield, CT 06455, USA
There are 255 acres to explore here, and it's an amazing spot for snow tubing and skiing, too. It's one of just a few ski resorts in Connecticut.
Another great winter-only option that's nearby is the carriage rides at Allegra Farm Horse and Carriage in Colchester. This one's a little farther away, but it's only about half an hour's drive from Middletown.
