There’s a surprising amount of variety amongst American pizzas. Are you a fan of New York-style thin crust? Maybe you like Chicago deep dish? Here in the Nutmeg State, we, of course, love Connecticut-style apizza. Coal-fired, charred crust, a little bit of romano instead of mozzarella cheese: that’s the New Haven pizza way. Of course, you can get plenty of other types of pizza in the state, whether you like it as a calzone, baked in a deep dish, with a stuffed crust, or any other form you can get. One particular type of pizza in Connecticut is pretty uniquely delicious: pizza in a cone. That’s just what you’ll find at the new food truck Pau Pau’s Pizza Cones.
We've got to say, this food truck would be pretty novel even if it wasn't selling such a unique item. Pau Pau's Pizza Cones is sold out of a short school bus painted black.
The idea for pizza in a cone came from Japan, but it's not very common in the United States. The benefits are immediately obvious: it's so much less messy, and a lot easier to eat while on the go.
Whatever toppings you choose, the homemade crust cone and gooey cheese make for a deliciously distinctive meal that's unlike any pizza you've had before.
