Looking to escape the city for a bit, or just eager to explore someplace new? Don’t forget about New Preston! This teeny tiny town is great for a laid back day trip, especially if you love relaxing in nature. This hidden gem is about to become your new favorite place. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself:
Nestled on the shore of one of Connecticut's most visually stunning lakes is the tiny town of New Preston.
The rural gem and its roughly 1,200 residents overlook Lake Waramaug and it's easily one of the most gorgeous places to experience fall. But because of its small size and quiet lifestyle, not many people know it exists.
But residents stay because there's absolutely no reason to leave. Despite its remote feel there are shops to discover and even a couple of restaurants. Plus it's also home to Hopkins Vineyard, which could take up the whole day by itself.
That's perfectly fine though, since there are overnight accommodations available. The B&B, much like the other buildings in town, exude charm. If you want to experience quintessential New England, this is definitely the place to do it.
The town is known for its traditional New England style and features historic buildings and homes built in the Georgian and Greek Revival Style. And since most of the town's land is protected open space, there's a ton of nature and wildlife.
Travel the eight mile path around the lake by car, bike, or foot and fall in love with the thick forest and scenic panoramic views that come with it. This town is ideal for a spring picnic or summer adventure and can easily be made in to a romantic escape.
