Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). Looking for a day trip in Connecticut that combines history, great food, and scenery? New London is a great option! This is one of the smallest towns in Connecticut by area. It’s almost 50% water and has just 5.54 square miles of land. Despite its small size, there’s plenty to explore here. The town has a history as a major whaling port in the early 19th-century. (It was actually one of the busiest in the world!) New London is now home to many fantastic restaurants and interesting places to stop.
