Some folks think Connecticut is an oasis itself, but this peninsula off the Connecticut coast is otherworldly. While locals have been using this place to jog with their dogs for a while, it tends to get overshadowed by its more popular competitors. If you prefer a quieter beach spot with more natural diversity then look no further! This spot has a little bit of everything, including peace of mind and a whole lot of serenity.
Welcome to Bluff Point State Park Coastal Reserve, some of the most beautiful untouched land in the whole state!
When you arrive, the first thing you notice is the large parking area, which is completely free. In fact, there is no fee to access the beaches here at all!
Since the land is protected, you will have to take a two-mile walk to reach the beach area, but it's totally worth it! The walk is super easy and overflowing with varying views.
For instance, the lush tree walk later transitions into wetlands and then into this gorgeous marsh area. With 800 acres of land to explore, there is no shortage of sights here.
One of a number of small beach areas along the peninsula, this soft sand area is perfect for wading into the water. If you plan to explore the whole place then I'd recommend wearing water shoes. That way you're prepared for every terrain!
Once you're at the bluff you'll have a view of the narrow wind carved beach and the large stones that create a natural fence around the land. But the best part is no crowds!
The point of the peninsula is like looking out over the edge of the world. It's the perfect place to reflect, or just to close your eyes and let the wind fall over you. There's nothing else like this place in Connecticut.
Wish you were there right this moment? Unfortunately I don’t have a transportation machine, but I do have a video. Watch this short clip to learn more about what makes this place unique and to see its beauty for yourself!
