Osbornedale State Park in Derby is one of the most underrated state parks in Connecticut. It’s a wonderful place to explore at any time of year. There are 417 acres to visit here, and you’ll find miles of trails, a beautiful pond, and even a historic homestead that’s open for tours. There’s no camping here, so typically, you have to enjoy these activities during the day, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and sunset. However, this fall, you’ll be able to enjoy a special experience: a guided nighttime tour of Osbornedale State Park. This is a rare experience and it’s completely free, though advanced registration is required. The hike takes place Friday, October 20, 2023, and you can sign up on the state of Connecticut website if you’re interested.

The guided hike is led by naturalist Vince Lasorsa, who will narrate the various sights you'll see.
