With 142 state forests and state parks in Connecticut, there’s a lot of ground to explore! Each of these designated protected areas have their own magical features that make them worthy of a visit, but the park we’re featuring today is celebrating a very special milestone. Tri-Mountain State Park in Durham, CT is turning 99 years old in 2024. Despite its sprawling 157-acre size, many aren’t even aware this place exists due to its remoteness. Let’s take a closer look:

It's an incredibly scenic area to visit during any season, and you'll find several great trails here ripe for exploration.

However, the unique thing about Tri-Mountain State Park is that there's actually no road access to this gem.

Do note that some of the pathways here can be a bit steep and rocky, so it's not advised to try to get here if you're a novice hiker.
