Order Some Of The Best Burgers In Connecticut At Louis' Lunch, A Historic Hamburger Stand
We all have those days when nothing but a hearty, delicious hamburger will do. The next time that craving strikes, we highly recommend heading to New Haven and treating yourself to a classic hamburger sandwich instead. Louis’ Lunch has officially re-opened to the public, and the team is ready to cook you the tasty burger you’ve come to expect from their historic little hut.

Since its original opening, it has appeared in numerous publications and on The Travel Channel, The Food Network, and more.

In 1900, a man rushed in and told Louis he was in a hurry and really needed something he could eat on the go. Louis placed his own blend of ground steak trimmings between two slices of toast and sent the gentleman on his way. Thus, this place is credited with being the birthplace of the hamburger.

Louis’ great-grandson, Jeff Lassen, is currently running the show. They are still serving the traditional hamburger sandwiches this place is known for.

It's cooked to your specifications, but the team recommends medium rare. And it's still served between two slices of toast.

And it's the simplicity that makes it so delicious.

It was threatened with demolition in the early 1970s to make room for the construction of a new high rise, but the locals were not having it. Hours before the deadline to save it, the entire burger joint was loaded onto a truck and carefully transported to its current location, where it was rebuilt brick by brick.

If it's been too long since you sank your teeth into one of these tasty burgers, pay it a visit as soon as possible.
