Summer is the best time for family togetherness, whether it involves getting out to the park and swimming pool or making crafts at home. Before the summer ends, are you wanting to get the family out for a good old-fashioned camping trip? For a camping experience that’s filled with fun for everyone, head up to Northwestern Connecticut and visit Lone Oak Campsites.
Lone Oak Campsites is a 250-acre park located at the base of Mount Canaan in the Berkshire Foothills. For 57 years, Lone Oak has been the camping destination for families from all over.
Whether you're a traditional camper who prefers a tent or you've set your expectations on having a full glamping experience, Lone Oak has accommodations and camping packages that will fit your needs.
All of the RV sites have full-range hookups which include electricity, water, on-site cable, and sewage.
On-site features include free wi-fi, a laundromat, showers, a golf cart rental, and full-service RV repair.
When you need the basics, you can stock up at Chipmunk Market and Deli. It has everything to cover your needs from firewood and groceries to treats and toys for the kids.
The Hayloft Lounge is a full-service 21 and older bar located above the Chipmunk Market. Live bands perform every Saturday night. Occasionally, the Hayloft Lounge is open to families during special events, such as the Mother's Day and Father's Day dances, and during Back to School Weekend.
If you want to try something a little different from tent camping and don't have your own RV, you can rent one of Lone Oak's on-site cabins. The Birches cabin is a two-room cabin with a full-sized bed, two bunk beds, a television, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and barbecue grill. Indoor plumbing is not available.
Each of the Stewart Lodges have a sleeping loft, a master bedroom with a double bed, a full bath, and a kitchenette with a full-sized gas stove/oven and a refrigerator,
You can also rent a 38-foot Skyline trailer. This model has a loft, a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a full bathroom, and a kitchenette with a gas stove/oven and refrigerator.
Cool off and relax in one of the two on-site swimming pools or in the hot tub. The pool is heated to 80 degrees and the hot tub is heated to 100 degrees. Every Tuesday night a DJ plays music in the pool area.
Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 16 years are not allowed in the hot tub.
Swimming isn't the only activity at this gorgeous campground. Activities include everything from themed weekends such as outdoor movies and talent shows to swimming, hiking, bingo, arts and crafts, dances, and live music.
Lone Oak Campsites is open from April through October. Off-peak dates are Sunday through Thursday, except for holidays. Fees are based on nightly, weekly, and monthly pricing.
