Not many people realize how hilly Connecticut can be until they head out west! Sure, we’re known for our coastal lowlands, but the Berkshires of Massachusetts extend down into the Constitution State and form the Litchfield Hills. If you’re looking for a great hike, lace up your boots and grab your day pack! Hit the trails to see a beautiful spot here in Connecticut that’s far too often overlooked.
The Macricostas Preserve is one of the best places to become familiar with the Litchfield Hills of western Connecticut.
The Meeker Trail takes you to one of the top sunrise and sunset destinations in Connecticut, so whether you're a morning person or a night owl, you'll find a stunning view at dusk or dawn.
Wind your way all the way to the summit ridge on this 3.9-mile trek in Macricostas Preserve. The elevation gain of just over 700 feet isn't anything to scoff at, but most people can take their time and easily enjoy the hike up.
