Keep traditional going strong this winter! Be part of the excitement and celebration of Salisbury’s 95th annual Jumpfest. Cheer on this year’s champions and future Olympians from the sidelines. It will be a day filled with awesome winter family fun.
On January 29, 1927, the Salisbury Outing Club held its first ski jumping competition with a crowd of 200 spectators. The club, started by Norwegian immigrant brothers, John, Olaf, and Magnus Satre started a tradition that has continued in the town of Salisbury for 95 years.
Today, the Salisbury Winter Sports Association generally holds the annual Jumpfest ski jumping competition the first weekend of February. This three-day competition brings in competitors from all over to compete in the Eastern Nationals, junior competition, Human Dogsled Race, the Snow Ball, and ice carving.
You probably won't see any other competition like this outside of the Olympics. The jumpers gather speed of up to 50 miles per hour as they fly up to 200 feet in the air. It's a thrilling experience that must be experienced first-hand, as you cheer on your favorite competitors.
No matter how much snow Mother Nature puts on the ground, this winter festival is guaranteed to have fresh powder. Satre Hill's two snow guns promise to the festivities going and make sure the show goes on.
Enjoy food trucks and fun activities throughout all three days. Friday Night Lights offers free admission. Although events, such as the Snow Ball and the Human Dogsled Race are canceled this year, you will find plenty to see and do as you marvel at the junior competition, the Salisbury Invitational, and the Eastern U.S. Jumping Championships.
Saturday and Sunday events are $15 per adult and children 12 and under have free admission.
Visit Jumpfest February 12-14, 2021. In order to keep to a social distance capacity of 25%, tickets will be limited to the first 400 attendees per day. As other visitors leave, new attendees will be permitted into the events. Masks and six feet distance are mandatory at all times.
