Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). For Nutmeg State book lovers, a great bookstore in Connecticut is like a dream come true. If that’s the case for you, then The Book Barn in Niantic is like downright paradise. This massive bookstore spans three separate stores and has an incredible 500,000 used books in stock at any given time. The selection changes weekly, with constant refreshing as people bring in new (well, new-to-you!) stock. You can find absolutely everything here, from adult fiction to kids’ books to non-fiction, so whether you’re an avid reader or just someone trying to do more reading, check this place out!
The Book Barn's three locations are all in the tiny beach town of Niantic. They're not too far apart and you can easily visit all three locations in one day.
The number of volumes here is almost overwhelming. You'll find an unorganized and chaotic bargain section, nicknamed Hades, where everything is just $1. Except for Hades, everything else in the store is carefully sorted by genre.
This place is a dream come true for readers of any age, but it's especially great for growing kids, whose tastes can get quite costly if you're buying brand new books every week.
