With dozens of state parks and preserves to choose from, residents in Connecticut certainly find no shortage of outdoor recreation opportunities. Here’s a jaw-droppingly gorgeous state park that offers a pretty river, hiking trails, and overnight camping.
Nestled on the banks of the Housatonic River, Housatonic Meadows State Park encompasses 452 acres, and is full of beauty and recreation opportunities.
Thru hikers on the Appalachian Trail enjoy the beautiful views in this little state park, and photographers are in paradise with this scenic landscape.
Take a hike through the park on one of the trails here. The Appalachian Trail stretches the entire length of the park, with a couple little spur trails for even more adventures.
The fall foliage turns Housatonic Meadows State Park into a brightly-colored wonderland every year. Once you get a look at this stunning spot, you'll want to return again and again.
Spend the night at one of 61 campsites. Amenities include bathrooms with showers and a dump station. The campground is open seasonally from May 25th through October 8th in 2018.
