If your summer has been filled with sandy beaches and the hint of a sunburn, you’re definitely on track, but why not take a break from the shoreline and head into the countryside for a day? Everyone loves good old-fashioned homemade ice cream. Combine a scoop of sweet perfection with the cutest animals you’ve ever seen and instantly you have a delightful day trip the whole family will love. Visit this ice creamery in Connecticut for an afternoon of adventure on the farm.
Robb's Farm is a family run operation that has been making their own ice cream since 2005 in South Glastonbury.
Stick to something traditional like chocolate, pistachio, or cookie dough to soothe your sweet tooth. Or take a walk on the wild side and try flavors like dirty barn shoes (chocolate ice cream with fudge and crushed cookies) or cow pies (peanut butter ice cream with large chocolate chips and cookie dough).
So many delicious choices might make your head spin. If you're having a hard time making a decision, simply double stack or triple stack the scoops for more than one flavor sensation.
Some of the more unique characters include donkeys and llamas. But the star of the farm is the quirky emu named Frosty. You'll have to visit the farm to check out the funky hairdo of that beloved bird.
In the fall, Robb's Farm turns into a harvest wonderland with plenty of pumpkins, hayrides, and fresh-pressed cider. Be sure to plan a visit once the leaves start to turn.
