Do you love admiring the beautiful homes all decked out for Christmas in Connecticut? We’ve got so many magical places all covered in lights for the season. Driving around residential neighborhoods seeing all the decorated houses is one of the best family activities in the winter. It fills your heart with holiday cheer to see all the festive decor: even the Grinch would have to crack a smile. There are also several great holiday home tours in Connecticut, and one of the best is the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford. This spot is a great place to visit at any time of year, especially for literature fans, but it’s wonderful all decked out in lights and Christmas cheer!
The Mark Twain House and Museum is one of the most popular attractions in Hartford. The famous author lived here with his family for nearly 20 years, and many of his best-known works were written in the home.
Come Christmastime, the home is particularly glorious. The home is covered in seasonal decor. Tours are offered daily, and you can even opt for a Living History tour with a costumed guide.
There are plenty of ways to enjoy the Mark Twain House during the holiday season. There are several different classes and performances being offered in 2022, including an ornament-painting workshop and theatrical performance.
The home is decorated as it would have been during the time when Samuel Clemens lived here. Museum staff used letters, journals from the Clemens family, and purchase records to make sure the decor was accurate.
While you're visiting the museum, make sure to check out the gift shop. It's a great place to buy Christmas presents for loved ones, especially fans of literature.
While this is a great museum and we recommend a visit at any time of year, we've got to say, this is one of our favorite holiday home tours in Connecticut. Definitely don't miss out on a December visit!
