If you’re a thrill-seeker looking to experience the paranormal, we know just where you should go. Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport is praised as one of the most gorgeous cemeteries in Connecticut, but it’s also rumored to be full of eerie spirits. Even if you don’t believe in the creepy spirits from beyond the grave, you’ll love meandering through the historical grounds.
P.T Barnum founded Mountain Grove Cemetery in 1849, and he was laid to rest here in 1891.
In May 1981, just one month after P.T Barnum passed away, a group of criminals reportedly tried to steal the showman's body and hold it for ransom. Thankfully, watchmen caught the gravediggers before they reached his coffin. However, some historians think this story was nothing but a publicity stunt for his upcoming circus tour.
