Harriet Beecher Stowe Home: The Connecticut Home With An Incredible Past

Connecticut is full of historic homes, but there’s one in particular that is still open to the public. The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center strives to keep the author’s thoughts and ideas alive.

The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center is located in the home where the author lived from 1873 until her death in 1896.

The home is located at 77 Forest Street, in Hartford.

You can tour the home to learn more about Harriet Beecher Stowe and her famous book, "Uncle Tom's Cabin."

You'll see the spaces where Stowe lived and worked. During her time at this home, she wrote three more books, and went on two speaking tours to promote her progressive ideas.

Staff will tell you all about Harriet Beecher Stowe's vision for social justice, and the work that the center is doing to continue that vision.
