You’d be hard pressed to find a fairy tale that didn’t feature gorgeous architecture and large, seemingly endless gardens. Harkness Memorial State Park fits the bill. With its expansive grounds, large estate and sculpted gardens, we couldn’t think of a place more likely to include a princess. It already has the birds and rabbits too, so if you know how to sing-talk to animals this is the spot. Check it out:
Harkness Memorial State Park features its own kind of castle, a 42-room renaissance revival mansion. Many a Prince Charming have gotten down on one knee in this very spot.
Enjoy the salty fresh air too, as this charming estate is oceanfront. Perhaps you'll hear the mermaids humming, carried on the wind. I can already envision myself spinning in circles underneath the summer sun!
And in classic fairy tale fashion, the only thing holding you back from adventure is a small gate. If you're willing to make the drive there's a magical day trip in store for you.
Even the water tower is reminiscent of Rapunzel's tower. Who knows what fairies are calling this place home. Come discover the hidden gardens and secret paths for yourself.
