Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). Harkness Memorial State Park is one of the most stunning day trips in Connecticut. Eolia, the mansion at the center of the park, is a beautiful 42-room home. The mansion and the botanical gardens that surround it are major draws that attract plenty of visitors to the park. One of our favorite features about the park, though, is the lovely loop trail that connects to the nearby beach. You’ll get some remarkably beautiful views on this gorgeous stroll. While spring is a popular time to visit due to the gardens being in bloom, each season has its unique benefits. This is a park we recommend no matter the time of year.
