What are the best beach campgrounds in Connecticut?

Whether you prefer beach camping along Long Island Sound or one of the lovely lakes in the state, there is no better time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Here are a few of the best beach campgrounds in Connecticut:

  • Witch Meadow Lake Campground, Salem, CT: This campground is pretty fancy. Enjoy a heated swimming pool, arcade, rec hall with a pool table and a pingpong table, and even swan-shaped paddle boats to cruise around the lake. The swimming beach is nice and sandy and the 14-acre lake is clean and ready for summer fun.
  • Pequot Ledge Campground, Oakdale, CT: This is another beautiful lake campground perfect for boating, canoeing, and waterskiing (probably not from your canoe though). This campground has spots open for tent camping, RVs, and even cabins, which are completely furnished and ready to go.
  • Rocky Neck State Park, East Lyme, CT: This seaside beach campground has pristine white sand beaches on the west beach with views of the Sound - you'll feel like you are on the Gulf Coast. The beach itself is free for Connecticut residents, however, out-of-state guests need to pay a $22 fee to access the park and beach.
  • Black Rock State Park, Watertown, CT: This is another inland campground with a nice swimming beach and great wooded camping spots. It's a nice quiet campground for a relaxing getaway. The park sits right next to the beautiful Mattatuck State Forest so there are plenty of hiking trails to explore.
