Road trips in Connecticut require a good bit of time in the car, so it’s great to make plenty of stops that involve spending time outdoors. It’s a great opportunity to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. If you love being outside in nature in Connecticut, we’ve got the perfect road trip for you. It will take you to some of our favorite parks in the Nutmeg State and give you a fantastic chance to admire all the natural beauty around us.
The entire trip will take about 4.5 hours of drive time, but don't worry! You'll have lots of chances to get outdoors and enjoy nature. You can view the entire itinerary on Google Maps. It's customizable, so you can add or rearrange stops if you like.

As the most beautiful place in Connecticut, no road trip is complete without a stop at Kent Falls State Park. The majestic waterfall that the park is named for drops about 250 feet in a quarter-mile. The falls are easy to reach, but there are plenty of hiking trails at the park if you're up for more of a challenge.

Your next stop, Bluff Point State Park, is one of our favorite state parks in Connecticut thanks to the variety of scenery here. There aren't too many places where you can experience trails through verdant woods and just a few minutes later, be right on the coast, but that's just what you'll find at this 806-acre oasis.

Quaddick State Park is not one of the more popular parks in the Nutmeg State, but it sure is beautiful. Nestled along the Middle Quaddick Reservoir in Thompson, the park has plenty of opportunities for recreation. You can hike, swim, and fish here. It's a great family day trip that offers tons of beauty in an often-overlooked location.

You'll finish up this road trip in Connecticut's great outdoors with a visit to another underrated park. The Scantic River State Park spans 784 acres along the river that shares its name. There are several trails here to explore, plus parcels for hunting and fishing.
