This excursion starts with a visit to Mount Tom State Park, home of the pond that shares its name.
The park encompasses about 231 acres and passes through several small towns. It's one of the oldest state parks in Connecticut, opening up in 1917. You'll find plenty of trails and things to check out here, including Mount Tom Tower. This historic fire lookout tower provides some incredible views.

Hike At Hidden Valley Preserve
Once you hit your next destination, you'll get to stretch your legs a little. Hidden Valley Preserve is a 700-acre wonderland of verdant forests, so there's plenty of scenery to admire.
