Looking for some festivals in Connecticut to explore with the whole family? Or maybe you like getting lost in the crowd as you explore arts and other unique things. Whatever you’re looking for, you can do it at one of these festivals! Turns out just because summer is almost over doesn’t mean the fun is done. These are still yet to come!
1. Woofstock On The Green (Branford)
August 13. Suggested donation of $5.
This free all day music festival is perfect for taking a light stroll and enjoying some tasty foods. Four Connecticut bands perform, along with a costume contest, obstacle course and more!
2. Riverfront Dragon Boat & Asian Festival (Hartford)
August 20. 8 am - 4 pm. Free Admission.
Those looking to compete in the dragon boat races must register beforehand, but watching the races is free! Come and enjoy the Asian food and culture, from martial arts demonstrations to culturally inspired arts and crafts.
3. Hamburg Fair (Lyme)
August 19-21. $5 Admission.
This old fashioned country fair is perfect for young families and folks looking for a more laid back fair experience. Plenty of games, pony rides and a baking contest to boot!
4. Chester Fair (Chester)
August 26-28. $8 admission.
An agricultural family fair, you can bet there will be lots of livestock and plenty of activities. Kids will enjoy the magic show and frog jumping, not to mention the full midway with rides!
5. Plainville Hot Air Balloon Festival (Plainville)
August 26-28. Free Admission.
Plenty of cool stuff to see here! Hot air balloons talking off into the sky, fireworks, craft fair, and a classic car show. Thousand of spectators show up every year for the great food and live entertainment!
6. Woodstock Fair (South Woodstock)
September 2-5. $12 admission.
Take a look at some antique engines and cars as you explore the fair grounds and enjoy classic carnival foods. There will also be live music and go-kart racing for those looking for a little rush.
7. North Haven Fair (North Haven)
September 8-11. $10 Admission.
The pony, horse, and ox pulling contests are just the beginning! There's also a petting zoo in addition to the many carnival style games and rides.
8. Wapping Fair (South Windsor)
September 8-11. $6 Admission.
Want to see pigs race? How about Weiner dogs dressed as weiners? Come to Wapping for live music, a magic show and a fireworks display on Saturday. This is your chance for some quirky fun!
9. Four Town Fair (Somers)
September 15 - 18. $10 admission.
Plenty of agricultural exhibits here, including antique & farm machinery. There's also live music, and a number of competitions for both kids and adults. Plus livestock exhibits mean a chance to see cute farm animals!
10. Durham Fair (Durham)
September 22-25. $15 admission.
This fair has long been a fan favorite of Connecticut locals. Come celebrate 100 years with them this year at the demolition derby, tractor pulls, or whatever tickles your fancy!
