Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). We’ve got so many great state parks in the Nutmeg State, but focusing only on them means you ignore a lot of our great smaller parks! One of our favorites is Northwest Park in Windsor. This is one of our favorite hidden gems in Connecticut – it’s a park that has just about everything. There are tons of trails here, educational sites, and even a petting zoo filled with farm animals. This is a great outing that the entire family will love. It can sometimes be hard to get the little ones outside and away from their screens, but this park is so much fun that they’ll be begging for repeat visits.
