1. Castle Craig

Castle Craig is a thirty foot stone tower and observation deck that sits atop a mountain. You can take Reservoir Road to the top if you'd prefer to skip the 3-mile hike. You'll be treated to incredible views that overlook Hubbard Park in what feels like a mini-castle.
2. Hollister House Garden

This historical homestead will remind you of the secret garden. It's landscape design takes you through several gardens and maze-like topiaries. The natural beauty of the Litchfield Hills is highlighted by this home's enchanting grounds.
3. Saville Dam

The masonry work at this reservoir is nothing short of incredible, which is why folks love taking walks near this place. The dam is nearly 2,000 feet long and has stood for over 75 years. Providing the primary water source for Hartford, it's both practical and magical.
4. Silver Sands State Park

Marsh, grasslands, and a sandy beach are all wrapped in to one at this natural oasis. Anyone who loved exploring the outdoors would enjoy a day spent here. Its trails are easy to navigate and its sunset is the perfect end to a perfect day.
5. Charles Island
Since you're already at Silver Sands State Park, you just have to visit this place too. One of the coolest enchanting spots, it can only be visited at low tide. When the water is low a sandbar appears, making it possible to actually walk to an island. How cool is that?
6. Bluff Point
Depot Road, Groton, CT 06340
This Hidden peninsula is dog friendly and features a scenic picnic area. A quick and easy 2 mile hike will take you from the parking lot to the shore, but the hike itself will have you convinced you're in the woods. Bonus: you can see the New London Ledge Lighthouse from here!
7. Thimble Islands

Like any paradise, we have our very own set of islands. Take a relaxing (and romantic) cruise and learn the history of these islands and their funny names. The local dining scene is a great before and after option but this cruise is pretty special.
8. Walnut Beach

The place in the state with the bluest waters, this beach is just beautiful. It has a great, and well maintained pier in addition to soft, white sand. It gives the illusion that Connecticut is tropical which makes it a must visit locale in the summer time.
9. Lighthouse Point Park
2 Lighthouse Road, East Haven, CT 06512
Believe it or not, that gorgeous lighthouse is just the beginning at this oceanfront park. There is also an expertly crafted carousel that was completed in jaw-dropping detail. See what urchins and shells you discover on the rocks at this picnic spot fit for royalty.
10. Riga Falls
Mount Riga State Park, Route 4, Salisbury, CT 06068
It would be difficult to mention enchanting spots without talking about Riga Falls. The nature made swimming hole is a great place to cool off in the heat of the summer and offers the feeling of a remote escape. The rocks are perfect for sitting or tanning but we wouldn't recommend trying to stand on them!
11. Buttonwood Farm
473 Shetucket Turnpike, Griswold, CT 06351
Known for its farm fresh ice cream, Buttonwood Farm includes lush rolling acres that are fun to explore. But when the sunflowers are in bloom its even more incredible to visit. 14 acres of sunflowers pop up every summer and you can pick your own bouquet. Proceeds go to Make-A-Wish.
12. Lavender Pond Farm
318 Roast Meat Hill Road, Killingworth, CT 06419
We just can't get enough of this place! Acres upon acres of lavender is grown here, making it the sweetest smelling farm you'll ever visit. In the shop you can purchase homemade items, including lavender soaps and candles. It's a great place to hang out and soak up some sun.
13. Lover's Leap State Park
178 Shortwoods Road, New Milford, CT 06776
Say hello to one of the most beautiful bridges in the state. This place is either tragic or romantic, depending on how you interpret the folktale. You'll find many scenic vistas here and are treated to a waterfront view unlike any other. It's a must visit for the spring.
