When it comes to restaurants and attractions, the bigger cities in Connecticut tend to get more attention. Don’t get us wrong: New Haven has phenomenal pizza and there’s plenty to do in our typically touristy areas. After all, they’re popular for a reason! But there are so many hidden gem restaurants in Connecticut that are just as deserving of praise. One that we love is 85 Main way out in Putnam. Northeastern Connecticut may be known as the Quiet Corner, but there’s plenty to enjoy there. This is one of the corner’s tastiest spots, and it’s perfect for date night or a night out with friends.
The restaurant is easy to find: its name is its address. Putnam is a fairly quiet town, but it's got a surprising array of delicious restaurants. This upscale spot is one of its best.
This is the only raw oyster bar in northeast Connecticut. The menu changes throughout the season depending on what's available, but you can generally expect to find great oysters, clams, and shrimp.
It's all locally produced right next door in Rhode Island and is delivered to 85 Main multiple times a week. You're getting the freshest seafood possible here, whether you order oysters or sushi.
They also offer some great salads. Those who don't like seafood can order them plain, but if you prefer a little more protein, add on oysters, steak, crab cakes, and more.
