We could call this place a state park, but it’s so much more than that. One of Connecticut’s best kept secrets, this place consists of acres of sprawling green grass, and all the quaint nuances of a New England garden. Think you know what I’m talking about? Let’s find out!
I'm talking about Wickham Park, the 250 acres of gardens, fields, and woodlands hiding in Manchester.
The park hosts the Connecticut State Class Championships, the State Open Championships, and The Wickham Invitational Race for cross country every year. But it's also just a cool place to hang out. Especially since they have frisbee golf.
Explore the grounds and take advantage of the many paths. Ask the park ranger on duty what their favorite one is and challenge yourself to complete it.

Or just take a leisurely stroll by the pond and admire the details. You should also say hello to the peacocks. And by peacocks, I don't mean statues. They're really are peacocks here!
Just like a dream, this place is fleeting: Wickham Park is only open from the first weekend of April until the last weekend of October, so go visit now! At 55 years and counting, you know the drive will be worth it.
